Iloilo City –Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) VI senior geologist Adrian Nichol Lizada presented the MGB national geohazards mapping and assessment program during the ComPassion activity at the Sibalom Natural Park in Sibalom, Antique on November 23, 2023.

DENR VI held simultaneous events in the Sibalom Natural Park to mark the 50th founding anniversary of the Career Executive Service Board (CESB). The relaunching of the CESB Compassion projects enjoined government agencies to conduct their respective ComPassion activities covering the pillars of sustainable development goals: people, planet, prosperity, peace and partnership.

MGB VI aims that through the assessment and mapping of natural hazards specifically rain-induced landslide and flood under its mandate, areas susceptible to these hazards are identified.  It also aims to increase public awareness, mitigate negative impacts, and help develop a better plan such as in the CLUPs and disaster resiliency programs.  (MGB VI)
