The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) is the primary government agency under the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), responsible for the conservation, management, development and proper use of the country’s mineral resources including those in reservations, and lands of the public domain.
Under the Mining Act of 1995, the Bureau is responsible for the administration and disposition of mineral lands and mineral resources, and to undertake geological, mining, metallurgical, chemical and other related researches as well as geological and mineral exploration surveys and other related studies such as geoenvironmental, hydrogeological, geochemical and geophysical surveys.
