MGB VI held an action-planning workshop to enhance organizational capacity

Iloilo City – The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office VI (MGB VI), Department of Environment and Natural Resource has undergone an action-planning workshop on February 15 to 16, 2024 held in Iloilo City to enhance the organizational capacity of its key personnel in managing work targets and ensuring increased productivity.

We look at our accomplishments as an organization over the years and assess what impact we have contributed to society as a public service institution, said OIC Regional Director Cecilia L. Ochavo-Saycon during her opening message.  She said that the activity is part of the agency’s commitment of providing the highest quality service as embodied in its ISO Integrated Management Policy.

Ms. Roxanne C. Yap, the resource person, guided the conduct of the workshops and processed the results and integration of the inputs provided by the MGB VI participants.  The activity was designed to give the participants a thorough understanding by reviewing the agency’s goals, activities, and work targets, and how each unit, as an integral part of the whole organization functions to achieve goals and outcomes.

One of the workshops involves a performance assessment of the previous year’s accomplishments that include the challenges and strategies that were adopted in surmounting these challenges.  Ms. Yap emphasized that we need to look back to learn and move forward to achieve what we set out to do.

Ms. Pauline Marie C. Jordan, planning officer gave an overview of the programs of MGB VI.  MGB VI division chiefs Mae Y. Magarzo, geosciences division, Ronald C. Villamora, mine environment safety, and social development division, Errol C. Fuentes, mine management division, and Glenn C. Umipig, finance and administrative division joined the workshop together with the section chiefs, and staff of the office of the regional director.

Each division accomplished a staff assignment matrix resulting in an easy and clear guide on the tasks, responsible persons, and schedules of activities of each division with the use of online digital platforms.

One of the staff recently joined the organization and expressed the usefulness of the two-day activity in learning about what they do through the presentations and discussions.  OIC RD Ochavo-Saycon expressed her appreciation for the active participation of everyone.  She encouraged the personnel to build on the organization’s strengths such as cooperation, competence, and the willingness to continuously learn and improve in performing one’s responsibilities.  (MGB RO-VI)
