Iloilo City – The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office VI (MGB VI) in collaboration with the municipality of Cuartero, Capiz conducted an information, education, and communications activity to raise awareness on landslides and rain-induced landslides on September 29, 2023, at the municipal conference hall.
Municipal officials, unit heads, and personnel led by municipal mayor Tito Mayo attended the activity.
MGB VI senior geologist Adrian Nichol L. Lizada presented the updated detailed geologic hazard map of the municipality and the results of the vulnerability and risk assessment conducted by MGB in 2020.
Updating of the geohazard maps is a regular work target conducted by MGB coupled with communicating the results through IEC activities to help equip the LGUs on the use of geohazard maps and updated data as input to local land use planning and disaster risk reduction and management programs.
