MGB RO-6, DENR ISO auditors leveling up skills through training

Iloilo City –The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. 6 (MGB RO-6), DENR are leveling up their skills through continuous training.  On September 12-13, 2019, auditors and process owners attended an Internal Audit Training based on ISO 19011:2018 or the Guidelines for Auditing Management Systems.

Resource person Lorna Valdez, managing consultant of D’Lanor Management Consultancy Services trained a total of twenty-four auditors and process owners to learn skills to become an effective auditor, perform all the aspects of auditing from planning up to audit closure, prepare an audit plan, audit checklist and finally conduct an audit.

The auditor’s training is part of the continuing education of MGB RO-6 since it has obtained three ISO certifications in 2017 for three standards, namely: BS EN ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System, BS EN ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System, and BS OHSAS 18001:2007 Health and Safety Management System.

The ISO organization is spearheaded by the Management Representative, Engr. Florian D. Jimenez and Internal Lead Auditor Engr. Johnny R. Matias.

The MGB Region VI QEHS Policy reads:

MGB Region VI, being responsible for the conservation, management, development, and proper use of the country’s mineral resources, is committed to providing the highest Quality Services and solution to its clients while also focusing on the Prevention of harm and Ill-Health and Protection of the Environment. MGB Region VI is also committed to comply with all applicable requirements and continuously improve its QEHS Management System by:

  • Maintaining a consistent focus on technology updates, asset investments, and process improvements;
  • Acquiring and Developing employees into highly skilled professionals;
  • Continuously updating and monitoring our QEHS programs and operational controls;
  • Reviewing the QEHS performance regularly to ensure quick response time to problems;
  • Maintaining a good relationship with other interested parties.
