MGB in Action: A Unified Response to the “Bayanihan to Heal As One Act”

Summary of Accomplishments as of July 1, 2020

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau and the Mining Industry collaborate in responding to the needs  of the Filipino citizenry in combatting and recovering from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic pursuant to Republic Act No. 11469 or the ‘Bayanihan to Heal as One Act.’”

The MGB collaborated with mining companies and permit holders in providing assistance to host and neighboring communities and other stakeholders affected by the pandemic in compliance with the Memorandum dated March 27, 2020 of MGB Director Atty. Wilfredo G. Moncano. The said memorandum authorizes the realignment of unutilized funds of the Social Development and Management Program to support affected impact and non-impact communities due to COVID-19.

In Region 6, the sand and gravel (SAG), quarry and mineral processing (MPP) operators or collectively the aggregate sector extended economic relief to households and individuals affected by COVID 19 by giving different kinds of personal and protective equipment (PPE), food packs and even cash assistance since the first week of April.

As of July 1, 2020, the fund allocated by permit holders has a total of P7,215,056.35.  The total fund utilized is P 6,516,275.80.
