MGB conducts audit of mineral processing permits in Region 6

Iloilo City –  The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Central Office dispatched a team to conduct an audit of approved mineral processing permits (MPP) within the authority of MGB Regional Office VI from March 6 to 10, 2023.  The audit team is composed of Engr. Mary Joanne Kathryn L. Tejano, Engr. Geleni Shalaine P. Bello and Ms. Christine P. Naira of the Mineral Processing Service and Audit Section (MPSAS), Metallurgical Technology Division of MGB Central Office.

“The MPP audit aims to ensure that a proper system of monitoring the compliances of all contractors is in place and being followed,” MGB VI Regional Director Raul Laput said.  A mineral processing permit (MPP) is granted to qualified individuals and companies allowing them to process minerals after complying with all the requirements.  Compliance to the terms and conditions of the permit is the main objective of the audit pursuant to Republic Act 7942 or the Mining Act of 1995 and other pertinent laws and regulations.

The audit team arrived at the MGB Regional Office VI on March 6 to orient the technical team and MGB VI focal persons.  The team also held a documentary audit before proceeding to the field audit of MPP areas in the provinces of Negros Occidental and Iloilo.  (MGB VI)
