MGB VI presents policies for municipal stakeholders

Iloilo City – The Mines and Geosciences Bureau VI presented policies governing the minerals and quarry industry during the information education campaign spearheaded by the Environmental Management Bureau Region VI for the municipal regulatory offices and quarry permittees in the province of Antique last November 28, 2023, at the Villa Valderrama Mountain Resort, Valderrama, Antique.  Fourteen municipalities were represented during the said event composed of municipal ENROs, municipal business permit licensing officers, hospital administrators, and quarry permittees in the province of Antique.

MGB VI Engr. Kimberly A. Villa, the officer in charge of the monitoring and technical services section and mining tenement evaluation presented relevant policies on dredging, Minahang Bayan for small-scale mining operations, different types of mining tenements issued by MGB and requirements.  Engr. Villa further gave an overview of policies on mineral processing operations and the accreditation of traders, dealers and retailers in the trading of minerals and mineral products and by-products.

MGB, the primary government agency responsible for the conservation, management, development and proper use of the country’s mineral resources and mineral lands, aims to strengthen its commitment to environmental stewardship, safety, and community engagement, Engr. Villa said.  She expressed appreciation to the EMB VI  for creating the opportunity to collaborate with local stakeholders in streamlining environmental policies.   The ENR office of the province of Antique and the municipality of Valderrama were also partners in the said informative activity.  (MGB VI)
