Iloilo City – The DENR, Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office 6 (DENR, MGB RO-6) received three ISO certifications from the certifying body NQA Philippines, indicating that the MGB RO-6 Office passed three ISO standards, namely: BS EN ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System, BS EN ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System, and BS OHSAS 18001:2007 Health and Safety Management System. NQA Philippines, Inc. represented by Ms. Caroline Buenvenida awarded the certificates today, March 19, 2018, during the awarding ceremony held at the lobby of the MGB RO-6 Office at Queen City Garden Mall, J. de Leon Street, Iloilo City.
The NQA Philippines, Inc. certifies that MGB RO-6 has passed the audit and is now ISO certified in three standards of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Each standard is preceded by an acronym that indicates which part of the world has adopted the document. The MGB RO-6 ISO certifications follow the British Standard (BS) and European Norm (EN).
DENR, MGB RO-6 Regional Director Leo Van V. Juguan said that the MGB RO-6 ISO certification process kicked off in March 2017 followed by a series of seminars, capacity-building activities, documentation, and all prescribed activities in compliance with Quality Management System (QMS), Environmental Management System (EMS) and Health and Safety Management System in the succeeding months last year. The Certification Audit was completed in December 8, 2017 where MGB RO-6 passed.
RD Juguan said that being ISO certified not just in one but three standards is a milestone for the MGB RO-6 organization. The cooperation and hard-work of everyone proved to be the key factors in achieving the ISO certification. He added that the challenge now is how to fully implement the quality, environment, health and safety management standard that were put in place while continuously improving it. The goal of the certification process of putting in place systems following international standards is to give the best service to the public. (MGB RO-6)
