MGB RO-6 GAD activity anchored on strengthening work values beyond compliance

Iloilo City – The first batch of personnel for the Mines and Geosciences Bureau, Regional Office 6 (MGB RO-6, DENR) had a full day learning more about work values based on the ethical standards for government employees embodied in Republic Act 6713 in carrying out work as a public servant.   However, the learning event aims to foster a deeper and more personal commitment to these standards and not just compliance for the law’s sake.

This was the direction of the learning event facilitated by the resource person Ms. Muriel Minerva Jover, a licensed psychologist and currently a faculty of the Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT-U).

Thirty-three personnel belonging to the age group thirty-five years old and below were the first batch who attended the training last February 7, 2020, at the Diversion 21 Hotel.

Ms. Cecilia Ochavo-Saycon, chief of the Finance and Administrative Division urged the participants to seek to be true and committed public servants who will never compromise their integrity for a price. She said that the learning event is important to develop and engender the right work values for personnel who are still starting out in public service as they will be next in line as potential leaders in the organization.

The participants shared their insights on the different topics and activities that remind them of the ethical standards for public employees and officials.  They realized how important it is to have work ethics and values in carrying out their responsibilities as public service providers.

Ms. Mae Y. Magarzo, chief of the Geosciences Division and focal person of the Gender and Development (GAD) program of MGB RO-6 expressed her appreciation to the resource person and on the values that she learnings she was able to facilitate for the participants. (MGB RO-6)
