Iloilo City – The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office VI (MGB VI), Department of Environment and Natural Resources has once again passed the surveillance audit of an external certifying body, NQA Philippines, Inc. on March 14, 2022.
MGB VI started applying for three ISO standards in 2017 – ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS), ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System (EMS), and ISO 18001:2007 Occupational Health and Safety Assessment System (OHSAS). After going through the certification audit, MGB VI was certified in the three ISO standards by NQA Philippines, Inc. The ISO certification is valid for three years provided MGB VI, the auditee, meet all the requirements validated during the annual surveillance audit. Last year, MGB VI migrated to the newest international standard for OHSAS, from ISO 18001:2007 to ISO 45001:2018.
This year’s external audit is the first audit of the three-year cycle of the certification. The external auditor commended the good points of MGB VI starting with the commitment of top management and the whole workforce in implementing and maintaining the Integrated Management System (IMS) despite the pandemic. More good points include a well-maintained documented information, good handling of records and completeness of documents and evidences. He also found the good results of customer satisfaction survey and staff competencies with valid and updated PRC licenses noteworthy. He also noted as good point the achievement of the Office Performance Commitment and Review (OPCR) for 2021, conduct of Fire and Earthquake Drill, training and IEC despite the hindrances posed by the pandemic last year.

Matias, Internal Lead Auditor (ILA) and the entire MGB VI workforce for their competence, dedication and hard work in continuing to improve the quality service MGB VI provides for its clientele and stakeholders.
