MGB VI announces photo essay writing winners of the National Climate Change Consciousness Week

Iloilo City – The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Regional Office VI (MGB VI), Department of Environment and Natural Resources announces the winners of the recently-concluded photo-essay writing contest in celebration of the National Climate Change Consciousness Week held last November 19-25, 2022.

Twenty-four (24) currently enrolled secondary school students (Grades 7 to 12) in the different schools in Region 6 participated and sent their entries before the contest closed on November 25, 2022.

The winners with the titles of their winning entries are as follows:

First place:  Mary Antonette A. Gison, “Puzzle Pieces of Collective Effort for Nature: A Masterpiece to Behold”

Second Place: Rex David M. Fernandez, “Planting Seeds of Science”

Third Place: Faith-Ann M. Trinidad, “Nature is unpredictable, we need to be more responsible!”

Fourth Place: Mark Basil O. Gordon, “Tree Planting for our Future Generation”

Fifth Place: James Carlo A. Santiago, “Sampling Unite”

The winners will receive a certificate of recognition and cash prizes amounting to P3, 000.00 (First Prize), P 2,000.00 (Second Prize), P1, 500.00 (Third Prize), and P1, 000.00 each for the Fourth and Fifth Prizes.

MGB VI expresses sincere gratitude to all the students who participated in the event.  “You are all the necessary catalysts for a good change; the ones our Mother Earth need.  May we continue to do our part in combating Climate Change and its impacts, no matter how big or small they are.”
