Iloilo City – The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Regional Office 6, Department of Environment and Natural Resources in cooperation with the Bureau of Fire Protection – Iloilo City Station undertook a Fire Protection and Fire Drill today, August 10, 2017. Senior Fire Officer 2 Antonio M. Escobido, Jr. and Fire Officer 1 Jessica S. Hum of the BFP-Iloilo City Station conducted a lecture at the Iloilo Grand Hotel followed by a fire drill in the MGB RO 6 office at the Queen City Garden Mall, J. de Leon Street, Iloilo City.
Regional Director Leo Van V. Juguan of MGB RO 6 recognizes the support of the BFP-Iloilo City in equipping the employees of MGB RO 6 with the knowledge on fire protection and prevention. The fire drill gave the employees a simulation of a fire incident in the workplace and activated the office fire response team that MGB RO 6 organized.
Safety is a primary concern in the workplace, and this activity with the BFP-Iloilo City was very helpful in guiding MGB RO 6 on concrete steps to implement in ensuring that the workplace is safe from fire hazards, and primarily in saving lives should such an incident happen. Achieving a zero casualty in the workplace due to hazards such as from fire is a must, RD Juguan said.
