Iloilo City –The DENR- Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office 6 (DENR, MGB RO-6) joins the nationwide simultaneous earthquake drill today.
MGB-6 personnel followed the protocol of “duck, hold and cover” in the event of an earthquake. The Safety Officer and point persons monitored the movement and actions of personnel at the start of the drill to make sure that the steps are being followed.
Communication, first aid and rescue teams were already set up, and observed their roles during and after an earthquake.
MGB-6 then held a briefing on tsunami at the MGB office. Geologist Shimpei T. Francisco of the Geosciences Division gave an informative lecture on tsunami.
The earthquake drill was spearheaded by the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) in partnership with various national and local agencies. The drill seeks to intensify the preparedness of local communities on earthquake and tsunami. (DENR-MGB6)
