ILOILO CITY – The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Region VI (MGB VI), Department of Environment and Natural Resources Region VI has turned over the issuance of the Community Environmental Management and Community Relations Certificate (CEMCRR), and the Social Development and Management Program (SDMP) for sand and gravel and quarry permit applications to the provincial government of Antique. Governor Rhodora J. Cadiao and MGB VI RD Raul A. Laput signed a memorandum of understanding on June 13, 2022 authorizing the provincial government to accept, process and issue the CEMCRR and SDMP required of sand and gravel and quarry permit applications within the province.
MGB VI Regional Director Raul A. Laput said this is a continuing effort towards enabling the local government in the implementation of the devolved functions at the provincial and community levels. Under the mining law, permits for sand and gravel, and quarry operations on areas not exceeding five hectares is being issued by the provincial governor.
The CEMCRR and SDMP are requirements to ensure that the permittees have concrete programs for social development and environmental protection in the host and neighboring communities of the project.
The turn-over of this function has been completed in the provinces of Iloilo, Negros Occidental, Aklan and now Antique. (MGB VI)
