MGB VI signs MOU with Aklan province on issuance of SDMP and CEMCRR

ILOILO CITY – The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Region VI (MGB VI), Department of Environment and Natural Resources Region VI entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the provincial government of Aklan on the transfer of functions of MGB Regional Office to the Provincial Government of Aklan.  This effects that the province of Aklan will now accept, process and issue the Community Environmental Management and Community Relations Certificate or CEMCRR, and the Social Development and Management Program or SDMP for sand and gravel and quarry permit applications within the province.

MGB VI Regional Director Raul A. Laput said that this will allow a more convenient and timely manner in applying or renewing the CEMCRR and SDMP requirements since the applicants in the province of Aklan need not travel to Iloilo City to process and obtain the said requirements at the MGB regional office. We have always aimed for the streamlining of government policies and procedures governing sand and gravel and quarry operations, and decentralizing the processing of permits to enable ease in doing business.

Aklan Governor Florencio T. Miraflores and RD Raul A. Laput signed the MOU on June 9, 2022 at the governor’s office.  Prior the turn-over, personnel of the provincial environment and natural resources office of Aklan had an orientation and on-the-job training of the functions at the MGB VI regional office.
