MGB VI hosts the MGB national annual accounting and budgeting workshop

Iloilo City – The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Regional Office VI (MGB VI) hosted the MGB National Annual Accounting and Budgeting Seminar-Workshop held last January 22-26, 2024 at the Park In by Radisson Hotel in Bacolod City.

The annual workshop was attended by regional accountants, budget officers, bookkeepers, and the chief of finance and administrative division of fifteen regional offices and the central office of MGB.

MGB Director Atty. Danilo U. Uykieng graced the occasion as the keynote speaker.  He emphasized the importance of the annual closing of the books, which ensures that the financial records of the agency are complete and accurate.  Without it, the agency will not be able to know the soundness of its financial position.  Being an accountant himself, he advised the accountants on the steps to observe to ensure the accuracy of the agency’s financial statements.  He appreciated the presence of resource persons who will impart their knowledge and expertise for the participants to learn continuously and keep themselves updated on new policies.

Each regional office presented its respective 2023 year-end financial statements for review spearheaded by the MGB central office Financial and Management Division Ms. Gloria D. Mendoza, CPA.

MGB Assistant Director Engr. Teodorico A. Sandoval was also present and gave his support and congratulated the financial and management team of each regional office for another year of hard work and dedication.

Resource persons from the Commission on Audit (COA) and the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) presented relevant policies governing the financial management and budgeting operations for public offices.

MGB VI OIC Regional Director Cecilia L. Ochavo-Saycon welcomed the participants to the five-day seminar workshop and wished everyone a productive week of learning and collaboration.  (MGB VI)
