MGB VI, DENR and Mining Association of Region 6 reorients permit holders

Iloilo City – The Mines and Geosciences Bureau VI (MGB-6), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) collaborated with the Mining Association of Region Six (MARS) in reorienting permit holders in the province of Negros Occidental on government policies and requirements to improve their compliance.

MARS spearheaded the conduct of the reorientation seminar attended by permittees who are engaged in mineral processing and industrial sand and gravel operations in the province.  The organizers also invited dealers, traders, and retailers of mineral products or by-products to the learning event held at Circle Inn Hotel and Suites in Bacolod City on August 17, 2022.

The resource persons from MGB VI were Ms. Leslie Grace N. Cedeles, Engr. Errol C. Fuentes, Engr. Mierbert Wed Naldoza, Engr. Vicarthur A. Tangoan and Engr. Anne O. Lopez.  They discussed the common mistakes and violations of permit holders and the compliances to avoid such mistakes and violations.  MGB VI also presented the reportorial requirements, and a set of social, health, environmental, and safety that permit holders must complete.

MGB VI regional director Raul A. Laput and MARS President Francis Felizardo and Vice President Aurelio M. Espeja, Jr. delivered messages encouraging permit holders to understand the requirements and their role in ensuring that they comply with them to avoid violations.

MARS officers plan to conduct a similar activity in the other provinces to educate the permit holders and help them improve their compliance. (MGB VI)
