The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. 6 (MGB RO-6) in partnership with the barangay officials of Leon, Iloilo conducted an information, education and communication campaign on May 27, 2016 on the use of the detailed geohazard map of Leon, Iloilo as a way of preventing disasters from geologic hazards such as floods and landslides.
Barangays officials, the Barangay Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils (BDRRMC) and Municipal DRRMC of Leon, Iloilo attended the said activity.
Mr. Neil Anthony M. Rodriguez and Ma. Lucille V. Fuentes of MGB RO-6 conducted the activity while six B.S. Geology on-the-job-trainees were also present to assist and observe.
MGB RO-6 Regional Director Leo Van V. Juguan said that the IEC is a continuous activity of MGB RO-6 for all the barangays in Region 6 to equip them with useful information on how to use the geohazard maps which could really help in the planning for disaster risk reduction and management programs.
