RD Roger A. de Dios
Iloilo City – Regional Director (RD) Roger A. de Dios took the helm of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. 6 (MGB RO-6), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) on October 3, 2018.
The personnel of MGB RO-6, DENR formally welcomed RD de Dios during a turn-over ceremony held on the same date at the MGB RO-6 office.
DENR Secretary Roy A. Cimatu issued a special order on September 24, 2018, reassigning RD de Dios, previously assigned in MGB Region-13, to MGB RO-6. Meanwhile, RD Leo Van V. Juguan, was reassigned to MGB Region-8 from MGB RO-6 as regional director.
Engr. Rene de la Cruz, chief of the Mine Safety, Environment and Social Development Division (MSESDD) ceremoniously turned-over the key of responsibility of the MGB RO-6 regional director to RD de Dios as incoming regional director. RD Leo Van V. Juguan, outgoing MGB RO-6 regional director was on medical leave at the time of the turn-over.
In his acceptance speech, RD de Dios said he “looks forward to working with the people of MGB RO-6.”
A mining engineer, RD Roger A. de Dios describes himself as a family man who puts a premium on “striving for a stable and happy family life and raising successful children” as his primary purpose and inspiration as a public servant. A native of Cebu, he is married to Hazel de Dios and they have four grown-up children who each have their own profession and career.
RD de Dios graduated magna cum laude from the Cebu Institute of Technology with the degree of Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering. He earned a graduate diploma for Masters in Business Management from the University of the Philippines College Cebu.
He rose from the ranks of the MGB, starting as a casual mining engineer in MGB RO-7, and was promoted as Engineer IV, Chief Science Research Specialist until designated as officer-in-charge (OIC) in the same regional office in 2005. He then took the helm of MGB RO-8 as Regional Director OIC in January 2010. He was promoted as Director II while still in MGB RO-8, and afterward, was assigned as RD of MGB RO-13 in 2012 until his present assignment.
DENR Assistant Secretary (ASEC) for Mining Concerns Nonita S. Caguioa gave the basis for the reassignments, while MGB Assistant Director Atty. Danilo Uykieng gave a message.
DENR RO-6 Assistant Regional Director Jesse L. Vego also delivered his message and Environmental Management Bureau Regional Director Sophie T. Manuel, PhD, CESE attended the turn-over ceremony as well. (MGB6, DENR)
