Iloilo City – The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. 6 (MGB RO-6), DENR has kicked off in getting certified by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in three standards. Regional Director Leo Van V. Juguan said that the MGB RO 6 is at the start of the process of being certified to three ISO standards, namely the ISO 9001:2015 or the Quality Management Standard (QMS), ISO 14001:2015 or the Environmental Management Standard (EMS) and the ISO 18001:2015 which is the Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series (OHSAS).
MGB RO 6 employees learned about the ISO and the three standards the organization will implement during a two-day orientation conducted by the AGF Consulting Group on January 10-11, 2017 at the Sarabia Manor Hotel and Convention Center.
“Being certified in the ISO is required of all MGB regional offices. We are maximizing resources and opportunities by working for an integrated ISO certification which will enable us to implement quality management, environmental management and occupational health and safety standards in doing our work. The ISO standardization will enable for systems, procedures and guidelines to be much improved and at par with international standards in the delivery of our services,” RD Juguan said.
The Mines and Geosciences Bureau, DENR is the primary government agency in the rational management of mineral lands and in providing geosciences expertise and services, particularly on geologic hazards.
