Iloilo City – The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region 6 conducted an information, education, and communication (IEC) activity for the elderly persons, care providers, and management of Asilo De Molo on March 28, 2017. Located in Molo, Iloilo City, Asilo De Molo is home for elderly persons.
MGB DENR 6 in coordination with the Asilo De Molo spent an afternoon with the elderly persons in the IEC gathering entitled “Helping the Elderly Persons Cope with Geologic Hazards (Flood and Earthquake). Ms. Laila Grace Roxan Indico, a junior geologist of the MGB DENR 6 gave the lecture on geohazards.
Sister Nieva A. Manzano, Daughters of Charity (D.C.), Administrator of Asilo De Molo welcomed the MGB DENR 6 and expressed her appreciation to them for conducting the activity in Asilo De Molo.
Regional Director Leo Van V. Juguan said that the elderly persons need to be prepared for the occurrence of natural events such as flood and earthquakes and the potential risks and hazards they pose. RD Juguan said that he is personally committed to extending services for the benefit of the elderly persons while such activities are also mandatory for government agencies.
MGB DENR 6 Division Chiefs Mae Y. Magarzo of the Geosciences Division, Rene B. de la Cruz of the Mine Safety, Environment and Social Development Division (MSESDD), and Ms. Cecilia L. Ochavo-Saycon of the Finance and Administrative Division were also present during the activity together with the other employees of the MGB DENR 6. (IEC, MGB DENR 6)
