MGB-6 ISSUES LANDSLIDE AND FLOOD ADVISORY DUE TO TD AMBO

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office 6 (MGB-6) issued a landslide and flood advisory to the local government units in coordination with the field offices (PENROs and CENROs) of the DENR Regional Office 6 and the Department of the Interior and Local Government here in Region 6 because of Tropical Depression (TD) AMBO.

MGB-6 warns will bring light to moderate with isolated heavy rains during thunderstorms in Mindanao and may trigger landslides and floods in susceptible areas.  Based on the Weather Bulletin No. 3 issued by PAGASA-DOST at 10:00 AM today, May 11, 2020, TD AMBO slightly intensifies while moving slowly westward of the Philippine Sea.  The center of TD AMBO was estimated based on available data at 340 km east of Hinatuan, Surigao Del Sur (8.6°N, 129.4°E) moving west slowly with maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 70 km/h.

In the next 24 hours, the trough of TD AMBO will bring scattered to light to moderate with isolated The combined effect of the LPA and ITCZ will bring scattered light to moderate with heavy rains during thunderstorms in Mindanao.  Moderate to rough seas will be experienced on the eastern seaboards of easter Visayas, Caraga, Davao Oriental and Davao Occidental.

Residents of the aforementioned areas, especially those living in areas identified to be highly susceptible to flooding and rain-induced landslides, are advised to take appropriate actions, coordinate with the local disaster risk reduction and management offices, and continue monitoring for updates, especially the Thunderstorm/Rainfall Advisories and Heavy Rainfall Warnings to be issued by PAGAS Regional Services Divisions.
