The Mines and Geosciences Bureau Negros Island Region (MGB NIR) inaugurated its new office at No. 48 Block 13, Zurich Street, Helvetia Heights, Brgy. Villamonte, Bacolod City on March 15, 2016. A mass was celebrated by Fr. Nitodel Soriano followed by the blessing of the office.
Engr. Armando L. Malicse was appointed as the officer-in-charge (OIC) Regional Director of the MGB NIR through Special Order No. 2015-1191 of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources. Formerly, he was the chief of the Mine Safety, Environment and Social Development Division of MGB Regional Office No. 7 based in Cebu City.
After the inauguration, Engr. Malicse and the Division Chiefs of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Central Office (MGB CO) met to level off on the different aspects of the MGB NIR operationalization. MGB CO Division chiefs present were Metallurgical Technology Division Chief Engr. Juancho Pablo S. Calvez, Planning Policy And International Affairs Division Chief Engr. Glenn Marcelo C. Noble, Lands Geological Survey Division Chief Ms. Lilian A. Rollan, Mining Technology Division Chief Engr. Esteban C. Martin, Mining Tenements Management Division Chief Engr. Edgardo D. Castillo, Marine Geological Survey Division Chief Dr. Yolanda M. Aguilar, Mineral Economics, Information And Publication Division Chief Engr. Romualdo D. Aguilos, Financial Management Division Chief Ms. Eloisa L. Legaspi, and Administrative Division Chief Ms. Edna R. Lorilla.
Regional Director Engr. Leo Van V. Juguan and Finance and Administrative Division Chief Ms. Cecilia L. Ochavo-Saycon of MGB RO-6, Engr. Edward Malahay and Ms. Margarita Dolino of MGB RO-7 were present as well during the event.
Negros Island Region was created by virtue of Executive Order No. 183 issued by President Benigno S. Aquino III issued on May 29, 2015.
